Franz Josef theme public beta

Say hello to Franz Josef, our new modern, fully responsive theme.

Greetings everyone!

We’re very excited to introduce our new modern, fully responsive theme: Franz Josef.

You’ve seen the teaser in our Facebook page. After months of conceptual, design, and development work, we’re finally ready to take the wraps off the theme. But there’s one final crucial stage that we need to go through before the theme can be production-ready: beta testing.

Which is what this announcement is about. We’re officially making the theme publicly available for everyone to download and test it on their development site. We’ve done a lot of tests and fixed a lot of bugs during our internal testing, but we need your help to take the theme for a ride and break it – and then tell us about it! Help us to make this theme even better.

What you need to know

What follows is important! Please read them carefully before you attempt to install the theme.

This is not a finished product. We’re making it publicly available expressly for testing purposes, which means things may break and significant code and feature changes may happen. DO NOT use this theme on a production website.

Keep the theme updated. As we discover bugs and fix them, we’ll continuously release updated versions of the theme. We’ve built in an automatic updating feature into the theme, so you can automatically update the theme in WordPress just like any other plugins and themes you have.

Report bugs and feedback in the Support Forum. We’ll be viewing the bug report forum like a hawk. Post anything related to your testing of the theme there so we can keep track of everything.

Subscribe to our newsletter. We’ll be posting updates on this blog as necessary. To make sure you won’t miss any new announcement, subscribe to our newsletter using the form on the right hand side of this page.

That’s all. Happy testing!

Great news!!! will start testing soon! 🙂

  • Looks good, congrats. Will take it for a spin soon 🙂

  • Interesting. I´ll have a look in a week, or so.

Please let me know when it´s time to translate.

A suggestion: Could you make separate pot-files for the public and the admin sides? (Perhaps using different text domains?) That way it would be easy to quickly translate only the public parts, while leaving the admin interface in English.

That’s a great idea, Toby! It’s simple to implement, but I’m not sure if the Theme Review Team will allow for two different textdomains in a theme. Will have to clarify it with them first.

  • I look forward to trying this one out.
