Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Graphene Mobile and Graphene Mobile Neo?

Graphene Mobile and Graphene Mobile Neo are two different mobile themes, with different designs and different features. You can choose either one of them to use as the mobile theme for your site.

Compare the features of both themes side-by-side using the Features Comparison table.

When I view a single post or page, sometimes an image is displayed at the top of the post, and then again in the post. Why the duplicate?

This is actually a feature of the theme. It automatically displays either the Featured Image of the post or the first image uploaded for the post as a sort of “banner” image for the post. If you want, you can disable this feature in WP Admin > Appearance > Graphene Mobile > Display Options > Hide automatic image at the top of posts.

What is the Action Hooks Widget Areas? How do I use it?

The Action Hooks Widget Areas is a feature that allows you to place any content virtually anywhere in the theme, very easily. It works by enabling you to dynamically create new widget areas wherever there’s an action hook in the theme. The process is automated, so you don’t even need to know what is an “action hook” to use it.

This feature comes as a standard in all themes bearing the “Graphene” brand. Read more about this feature at the documentation wiki.

There was an error when I tried to install the theme. What gives?

99% of the time this is due to incorrect installation. We’ve designed the installation process to be quick and easy, but you do need to follow the procedures.

When trying to update the theme, I received an error message containing “PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10)”. What broke?

Nothing. 99% of the time this is due to the API Key being missing from the theme’s options page. Make sure that you have inserted the API Key for the product that you have received after your purchase in the theme’s options page, and then try performing the update again. You may need to try performing the update twice more since WordPress caches update check and response.

If you have lost your API Key, you can retrieve it from your Account Page.

Sometimes the mobile theme is being served even on desktop for certain pages. How do I fix this?

This is typically caused by using page caching, from plugins like W3 Total Cache and WP Super Cache. By default, the plugin makes no distinction between desktop and mobile devices.

For W3 Total Cache, make sure that you have enabled the “User Agent Groups” in W3TC. You need to enable both the “High” and “Low” group, and set the theme to “– Pass-through –“.

Similar configurations can be found for WP Super Cache.
